Gunnar Setser races to Top-5 finish in Corn Belt Clash at Knoxville Raceway
Gunnar Setser climbed back behind the wheel of the Midwest Tube Mills / Davis Bros Design No. 5G Sprint Car over the weekend at Knoxville Raceway — the iconic half-mile known as the Sprint Car Capital of the World — for the Avanti Windows & Doors Corn Belt Clash.
Still gaining experience on half-mile tracks, Setser battled through Friday’s program, transferring into the feature with a third-place finish in his B-Main. He made forward progress in the main event, advancing six spots to finish 17th.
On Saturday, Setser showcased noticeable improvement. He secured a heat race victory to earn a spot in the 30-lap finale and rolled off from the ninth starting position. Staying smooth and consistent throughout the feature, the young driver raced his way to an impressive fifth-place finish, trailing only Kevin Thomas Jr., Ryan Bernal, Kyle Cummins, and Justin Grant at the checkered flag.
For his efforts, Setser was honored with the Inferno Armor Fire Move of the Night award.
