Derek Snyder
Hard Wreck @ South Bend
Snyder traveled to South Bend Speedway to compete with the Hoosier outlaw Sprint Series Saturday night. The car was quick in hot laps but Snyder qualified in 12th position after getting the car sideways coming out of turn four. The night was looking good for Snyder as he came from 3rd to win his heat race. Starting in the middle of the pack on a tight quarter mile, Snyder had his work cut out for him. He immediately started working his way through the field, getting up to 7th place. You could throw a blanket over Snyder and the next four cars. Joe Swanson, Ryan Litt, and Mike Astraskus got together going into turn 3 causing Hank Lower to brake hard and come up the track leaving Derek no where to go. Snyder climbed Lowers right rear and catapulted head first into the wall. The car was completely destroyed but Snyder was ok other than a hurt knee.
We'll be done for the year unless we can pick up a ride. We're now having to regroup and plan for the 2013 season a little earlier than planned. I want to thank my sponsors NAVY, Airzoo, ATA, IHOP, Pizza Hut, and RS Biomedical for their support this year. Please check out their websites and support the businesses that support short track racing!
I've had a huge amount of support this year, from my family, crew, fans, and sponsors and I cannot thank everybody enough. It's been a rollercoaster year but we've been able to show our potential so we're excited about what's to come. Videos of the races are posted in the media area as well as my youtube channel which can be found by searching rcderek22.
