Herrington Readies for Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain

HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. (03/04/25) – Wil Herrington capped off a tripleheader weekend across Georgia and Alabama with a trip to Victory Lane on Sunday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway aboard the Bruce Kane Racing / All About Doors No. 15K Rocket Chassis Late Model.

Herrington’s $10,000 triumph on Sunday marked his first of the 2025 season and first with the Bruce Kane Racing team.

"The Good Lord put me here," Herrington said. "That's just says all there is to it. I took the lead there and I was just praying every lap. Just didn't wanna see those cautions, but at the end of the day I knew it was His plan, and whatever was gonna happen was gonna happen."

Herrington’s three-day weekend began Friday afternoon at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway, where he hopped behind the wheel of the Bruce Kane Racing No. 15K Super Late Model for the season opener of the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals tour.

Joining a field of 30 Super Late Models, Wil locked himself into the $7,553-to-win A-Main with the fourth-quickest lap in qualifying, placing him on the fourth row of the starting grid. He made a late charge toward the front, ultimately finishing second, just behind race winner Chris Madden with Trey Mills completing the podium in third.

For the second round of the Peach State Doubleheader at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway, Wil grabbed the final transfer spot in his heat race and recorded a 12th-place outing in the $10,053-to-win feature.

Herrington concluded his weekend with a trip to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) on Sunday where was one of 20 entries at the facility for the unsanctioned program. Wil started fifth in the 50-lap showdown and quickly raced to the lead by the sixth circuit. Herrington briefly lost the lead to Ethan Dotson on lap 37, but regained it just two laps later and powered on to secure the $10,000 top prize.

Herrington took the checkers 1.100 seconds ahead of Dotson with Tanner English finishing third.
