Holland notches quartet of top-10 results in 6 straight days of Midwest racing

Chase Holland raced across Illinois and Missouri from Tuesday through Sunday, picking up five top-10 finishes in six consecutive days behind the wheel.

Holland kicked off his slate with the first four days of Illinois Speedweek, competing in fields of 25 to 35 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds each night in his Industrial Dock & Door Company No. 45 machine.

On Tuesday, Holland started strong at LaSalle Speedway by qualifying first in his group, winning his heat race and starting from the pole in the 25-lap, $1,200-to-win feature. He came home fifth, following Michael Ledford, Kyle Hammer, Dillon Nusbaum and David Stremme across the start-finish line.

The next night, Holland and his team traveled to the 3/8-mile Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Illinois, where Holland took fourth in his heat and advanced from his 11th-place starting spot to finish sixth in the 30-lap A-Main.

Thursday saw Holland take on Lincoln Speedway, where he again qualified first in his group. However, he did not finish his heat race after starting from the top spot on the quarter-mile oval. He then registered a ninth-place result in his B-Main, precluding him from advancing to the 20-lap feature.

On Friday, Holland moved on to Farmer City in the Land of Lincoln where he got back on track at the quarter-mile Farmer City Raceway. After taking third in his heat, Holland both started and finished eighth in the 30-lap, $2,000-to-win main event.

For Saturday’s racing festivities, Holland crossed into Missouri for a 19-car DIRTcar UMP Modified show at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park. He advanced from sixth to third in his heat race on the 1/3-mile clay oval in Pevely and started sixth in the 20-lap A-Main. He picked up four positions in the race and took the checkered flag in the runner-up spot, 0.700 seconds behind Rick Conoyer. Third place went to Kenny Wallace, with Ryan Hamilton and Timmy Hill rounding out the top five.

Finally, Holland closed out his extensive stretch of racing back in Illinois on Sunday night, competing among 14 Modifieds at Quincy Raceways. He set the quickest time in hot-lap qualifying on the quarter-mile oval and won his heat race from the pole. He started first in the 20-lap feature and led the first five circuits before ultimately coming home third behind Conoyer and Austen Becerra. Dave Wietholdeer and Treb Jacoby finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
