This & That: Off Season News You Can Use

The first of two open practices in 2019 is only 80+ days away. We’re gearing up for Fast Family Fun starting Friday, April 26,marking the 70th
consecutive season at Kalamazoo Speedway. We’re looking forward to welcoming back our regular drivers plus welcoming a lot of new drivers to the five weekly classes. We expect the pits to be packed, the infield pits to be sold out for the year and we’re looking forward to our great fans packing the grandstands. Watch for a number of drivers trying out a new class this year. '

70th Consecutive Season Opener! Mark your calendars for Friday, April 26. It’s the season opener for the Zoo’s five weekly classes.The Zoo Stocks, the Outlaw Front Wheel Drives, our Street Stocks and Late Model Sportsman will be showcasing their new colors plus the Outlaw Super Late Models will headline the 2019 opener with the 19th consecutive running of the Intimidator 100($2,500 to win and $400 to start). Testing, Testing, Testing. Open hot-lap sessions will run on Saturday,April 13 and Saturday,April 20 from noon –5 PM. Pit passes are $20. Grandstands are free! We’re sure to have a big crowd of teams taking advantage of the opportunity to shake down their cars before opening night.

Private Track Rentals will be available as soon as the weather permits.
Weekday Testing: Monday –Thursday Half-day sessions –10:00AM to 2:00PM or 1:00to 5:00PM. $400 per session which includes up to two vehicles. Each additional vehicle testing is $150.When both half-day sessions are booked, the second session will run from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. There is a maximum of six cars testing per session. Whole-day session –10:00AM to 5:00PM.$600 per session which includes up to two vehicles. Each additional vehicle testing is $150. There is a maximum of six cars testing per session.

Saturday Testing One session –11:00AM to 4:00PM.$800 per session which includes up to two vehicles. Each additional vehicle testing is $200.There is a maximum of six cars testing per session.

No track rentals on race days (Fridays). No track rentals the week of April 22 or the Monday & Tuesday preceding the Kalamazoo Klash (August 7).No testing before 10:00AM or after 6:00PM.

All rentals must be paid in full at the time of booking. A full refund or a rescheduled test date is offered when inclement weather strikes. Any cancellation on the team’s part will result in a 50% refund. All vehicle testing requires a full working exhaust with a muffler to comply with Alamo Township rules. Fees do not include an ambulance or safety crew. Call Kenny Head at the Speedway Office at (269) 692-2423 for information or to book a session.

The pits were full of cars and drivers during the spring 2018 open hot-laps session.

Reserved Parking Spots. Drivers have until this Friday (January 18) to claim their 2018 pit stall(s). After the 18th, all remaining stalls will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Stalls are not considered reserved until they are paid in full (infield $100 and uppers $50). As always, there will be plenty of free paved (with electric) pit spots in the upper two pit areas.The infield will be a sellout this year. Reserved stalls are only sold to teams racing full-time at the Speedway in 2019. If you are interested in a reserved spot contact Kenny at the Speedway Office at (269) 692-2423.

Discount Grandstand Punch Cards. The 10 Punch Grandstand Pass ($100) is good for 10 -$12 events. Use any number of punches per visit (e.g., if you bring 4 people, you can use 4 of the punches for that visit). If you attend a $15 event, simply pay $3 cash plus one punch. Discount Pit Pass Punch Cards.Pit passes may be purchased as a 10 punch ($275),15 punch ($400)or 20 punch ($550)pass. These passes are good for any Kalamazoo Speedway sponsored event during the 2019 season. One punch is good for one day (three punches would be needed for the 3-day Super Shoe Nationals).

Skybox Rentals. Rentals are available for the full season or on a weekly basis. All skyboxes offer heat and air conditioning and hold either 8 or 16 persons. Our weekly skybox packages make the perfect gift for your favorite race fan or as a great employee perk for a job well done. An 8-person seasonal skybox is $3,000 and covers every race at the track in 2019, including the Big Rigs leased event. There’s no better place to watch the action than high above the race track.

Party Deck Rentals. Is your group too large for a skybox? Try a party deck where groups from 25 people up to groups of over 400 can be accommodated. Deck parties can be as simple as a group outing where 25 people are looking to sit together in a small reserved area all the way up to a fully catered company outing for groups ranging from 50-400 people.

Driver Information Form. A 2019 form must be filled out and turned in before any payouts will be made. Even if you’ve raced with us for years, a new form must be completed. PLEASE take the time to complete and turn in the form during one of the two open practice sessions. Forms will be available at both practices and may be downloaded from the website. Help Wanted!! Seasonal part-time help is needed for 2019.

Raber’sRumble Race FormatRaber’s Rumble is shaping up to be one of the premier Street Stock races in the nation. Details are still being hammered out but the format is likely to look something like this: Qualifying times will come from the two group qualifying sessions.There will be an odd & even 33-lap feature for the top 44 qualifiers, both paying $1,333 to win.

The top eight finishers from each of the two features will be in Ben’s Dash for Cashwhich will also pay $1,333 to win. The top 64 qualifiers will run in a feature event.BONUS Number 1: $33 lap money from Justin LeRoy at Turn 1 RacingBONUS Number 2: $333 for fast time.It should go without saying(but we’ll say it anyway)there will be no tire soaking at this race. The Bandit Big Rigs at the Zoo The Bandit Big Rigs are leasing the track on Saturday, August 17, making their first Michigan appearance (ever!) and expect a crowd of upwards of 5,000! Teams from 8 states plus Canada are expected to compete for a big purse.These rigs weigh between 11,500and 14,000pounds and start the race on 6 tires. Only commercially produced tractor-trucks (class 7 or 8 caband chassis)that were available for purchase in the United States and Canada for street and highway use at the time of their manufactureare allowed.There will be 18-22 of these puppies racing on the fastest 3/8 oval in the world!
