Covington Nets Podium During Thriller at 67 Speedway
Matt Covington Racing – Glenpool, OK (June 11, 2025)
Matt Covington delivered a strong podium performance Saturday night at 67 Speedway in Texarkana, scoring a 3rd-place finish with the ASCS National Tour after leading a large portion of the feature event.
The night kicked off on a high note as Covington set quick time and broke the track record in qualifying. He then secured a spot in the dash with a solid third-place heat race finish as the fastest qualifier to transfer. Covington went on to win the dash, earning the pole position for the feature.
At the drop of the green, Covington jumped out front and set the pace early and through the middle part of the race as the leaders navigated lap traffic. What followed was an intense and thrilling battle among the top three, featuring slide jobs and crossovers that kept fans on the edge of their seats. As the laps wore on and fuel load burned off, Covington’s car began to tighten up on the right rear, making it difficult to carry the same speed across the top and off the corners. He ultimately slipped back to 3rd, where he crossed the line at the checkered flag.
“It was a fun and exciting race,” said Covington. “We’ve had good speed lately and were definitely hungry for that win. I think the right rear just stayed too planted late in the race, and I wasn’t able to maneuver quite as well in traffic. Sam and Blake had cars that could move around a little better at the end. Still, we’ll take the podium, make some notes, and keep fine-tuning. Huge shoutout to Tim Crawley and the crew for the awesome racetrack, one of the most exciting races I’ve ever been a part of, and that’s all thanks to his track prep and effort.”
Covington now shifts focus to a two-race weekend with the ASCS National Tour:
• 6/13/25 – Creek County Speedway (Sapulpa, OK)
• 6/14/25 – Tri-State Speedway (Pocola, OK)
