Outdoor season kicks off for LaRose and RS12
Zander LaRose and his RS12 Motorsports teammates competed outdoors for the first time this year on Friday and Saturday in the Small Tire Shootout at Doe Run (Missouri) Raceway. LaRose got used to the 1/6-mile track in his Junior Sprint after having primarily driven a kart at the facility, while the RS12 contingent as a whole picked up multiple trophies in the two-day event.
On Friday, LaRose entered his Spartan Transportation No. 1Z Junior Sprint in a 15-car field. He took third in his heat race, then rolled off sixth to begin the 14-lap A-Main. During the race, LaRose’s fuel cell was punctured but he held on to finish ninth.
Fourteen Junior Sprints were at the track on Saturday, and LaRose again finished third in his heat. He also started the 14-lap feature from the sixth spot for the second consecutive night. He was hit early in the race, but maintained focus and came home eighth.
LaRose’s RS12 teammate Kruise Parson won both Junior Sprint features, while Presley Hall was 12th on Friday.
Elsewhere in the RS12 camp, Jaxton Wiggs won in Winged Outlaw Micros each day at Doe Run. He also finished second in A-Class Winged Micros on Friday and grabbed the victory in the class on Saturday.
Hall competed at Emma (Missouri) Indoor Raceway on Saturday and finished sixth in both Restricted Box Stock II and Restricted Box Stock II Pro.
