Fito and Peyton trek to Sandia Speedway for Southwest Showdown

Fito and Peyton trekked North to the Sandia Speedway in Albuquerque, NM for the track's inaugural Southwest Showdown weekend.

Fito hopped into the Javie Chavez-owned #6fo Stock Car for the three-day, $10,000 to win event and after a DNF on Thursday night and a 3rd place run on Friday, he earned the 11th most points, which placed his inside of the 6th row for the 40-lap, $10,000 to win feature race on Saturday afternoon. From the 11th spot, he was able to race into the top ten and contend for a top five throughout the event, but unfortunately fell out of the race late, suffering a DNF.

Peyton raced the family-owned #G3 B-Mod and had a great weekend, racing to three top five finishes for his efforts.

Thursday, he won his heat and ran fourth in the feature race, while Friday night saw him finish 4th in his heat and then charge from 11th up to 3rd in the feature, which put him on the outside of the front row for the $2,000 to win feature on Saturday. In the feature, he was able to run inside the top five all feature race long, battling to a third-place finish when the checkered flag flew.
