Dakota Jackson Conquers Paragon Speedway

27 cars signed in to compete at the Paragon Speedway on a windy night in May. Although it was chilly outside, the racing on the track provided plenty of heat for the fans on the hill. The night started with the 14 of Ethan Barrow picking up quick time in the first group over the 19B of Bradley Galedrige and the 18 of Cody Workman. Group two saw Dakota Jackson take quick time over the 67B of Dillan Baldwin and the 23P of John Paynter Jr. The last qualifying group saw the 83 of Carson Dillion take quick time, followed by the 88 of Charlie Stines and the 11V of Jonathan Vennard.

Heat race 1 saw them finish just like they qualified with Ethan Barrow picking up the win, followed by Galedrige, Workman and Ashton Thompson rounding out your top 4. Heat race 2 was won by the 22H of Rod Henning. He was light on the scales and was scored last. This gave the heat race win to the 23F of Dakota Jackson. He was being hunted by John Paynter Jr, Dillion Baldwin and Joshua Cevela. The final VanHorn Tint and Accessory heat race of the night was won in dominating fashion by Carson Dillion. He was followed by the 5M of Matt McDonald, the 88 of Charlie Stines and Jonathan Vennard.

Two drivers would not make the call for the B Main, leaving 10 drivers vying for the last 5 spots in the Brawley Group A Main. The 13 of Tyson Lady would take the B Main win followed by the 22X of Blaine Hix, a hard charging Rod Henning who started on the tail, the 21H of Levi Hinck and the 93 of Dean Barnes.

20 cars would fire for the Huntley Hoosier Winged Sprint Series A Main and the action would heat up quickly. After just one completed lap the 23T of Ashton Thompson would tumble in turn 3 bringing out the red flag. She was ok. When the green flag dropped again it would many laps until we saw another caution. Out front the 23F of Jackson, 83 of Dillion, 19B of Galedrige and the 23P of Paynter were putting on a show. Neck and neck the four of them set a torrid pace, constantly changing track position with one another. Dakota Jackson held firm in the lead while John Paynter Jr was ripping the high side and doing everything he could to catch Jackson. A caution with just a few laps remaining would give the 23P of Paynter one more chance but the 23F of Dakota Jackson would prove to be too quick on this night. Jackson would win his first feature event of the season and became the third different driver to win in the three races so far.
The hard charger for the event was the 22H of Rod Henning. Henning bounced back from his heat race DQ to 10th to 3rd in the B Main, and then 18th to 8th in the A Main.

The Huntley Hoosier Winged Sprint Series will be back in action on May 23rd at Bloomington Speedway for the Josh Burton Memorial.
