Speedway Salutes Heroes: First Responders Take Center Stage at Can-Am

They run to a dangerous situation when others run the other way, they’re the first people we call upon to help in an emergency situation, they’re our local First Responders and this Friday night at Can-Am Speedway our local First Responders will get the acknowledgement they deserve.

Several local fire fighters, emergency teams and law enforcement officials will be on hand at the Can-Am Speedway, which also features a parade at intermission around the speedway with many fire trucks, police vehicles and ambulances from neighboring municipalities taking part. All will enjoy a great night of racing in all five classes as well.

The Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds saw points leader Tim Fuller get back to his winning ways as he battled another veteran driver, Andy Howard, to score his 5th win of the season. Howard put up a great fight for the lead but Fuller was too strong as he pulled away in the closing laps, Shaun Shaw also had a great night finishing third.

Justin Gadbaw had a rock solid performance one week ago in the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman event. The Natural Bridge New York native started on the outside pole, took the lead and drove away from a quality field, leading all 20 laps in the caution free event to score the win. Jonathan Murphy scored a career best second while Frank Sibley held off Tyler Stevenson for the third spot and Steve Roberts crossed in 5th.

Brady Howard continues his chase to tie Logan Brown in the win column in the Donath Motor Worx Limited Sportsman division. Howard picked up his 4th win of the season in dominant fashion, with Camdin Cook finishing 2nd for a record sixth time in 2024. Genavieve Bartlett also had a solid run scoring her 5th straight top three finish of the season.

In Sundance Leisure Thundercar action on Friday night, Jared Gilson had been knocking on the door to victory lane and not only broke through, he kicked the door down and drove on through. Gilson fended off several challenges and held off Michael Greenfield in a close battle to secure an emotional first win in front of his proud family and crew. Chris Leone made the long haul from Niagara Falls and scored a third place finish.

This past week the Empire Super Sprints joined the full card of racing and Billy VanInwegen scored his first career series win over Davie Franek and Jordan Poirier. This week the speedway will see the return of the Panther Frame Worx Crate Sprint Cars. Josh Verne Jr. and Andrew Hennessy will continue their battle for the track title, with just 16 points separating the two drivers.

The top stars of the Can Am Speedway will be ready to go Friday night and we hope you will be there as well. Gates open at 5pm with the first green flying at 7pm, as the Golden Jubilee Season marches on.
