Inside Line Promotions – BENTON, Mo. (July 28, 2025) – Jordon Mallett recorded his ninth top 10 of the season last Saturday during his first race at Benton Speedway in more than a decade.
“I felt like it played out well and I was pretty pleased with the night,” he said. “We were forced to get a new car down after crashing that one in West Memphis the previous weekend so we didn’t know what to expect. I was pleased with the car and how things went.
“It was frustrating early on. We rolled out for hot laps and didn’t have brakes. It’s a short turnaround from hot laps to qualifying. We worked at it and weren’t able to get it rectified so we qualified with zero brakes. We qualified okay for the circumstances, but knew we could have qualified so much better.”
Mallett was fourth quickest in his group. He then advanced from third to second place in a heat race, which lined him up ninth in the A Main.
“After qualifying we changed out the entire brake system and got some brakes on the car,” he said. “We were happy from then on. We were able to work on the race car and make it a little better the last two times we got on the track. Other than that early hiccup, we were relatively pleased with it.
“I was hoping in the heat race we could have got into the dash, but fell a little short so we had to start ninth in the feature. We weren’t real great the first half of the race. We were so-so and not able to move around. Once the race track started to really slow down and get more slick was when our stuff started coming to life and we made it up to sixth.”
The sixth-place outing is Mallett’s sixth top 10 of the season with the ASCS National Tour, which is tied for the fifth most despite Mallett only competing in half of the races this season.
Mallett will take this weekend off before joining the ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints for a doubleheader at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., on Aug 8-9.
