Midwest Legends Dirt Series
Olson Outdoes the Field at 141
Maribel, WI (September 14th, 2025) - It may have taken a ten-hour driver and a long weekend for Ty Olson, but the driver out of North Dakota picked up his first Midwest Legends Dirt Series feature win and a solid national points night at 141 Speedway.
A staggering thirty-one cars made the trip for the final National Qualifier event of the 2025 MLDS season. All the regular characters were on hand for the third-to-last points night. An increased purse was also felt throughout the field thanks to Step-By-Step Respite Center in Oshkosh.
Fall River Foundry Qualifying was up first with Hayden Schmuhl taking top time. A 15.535 was the top time with Michael Weber and Olson second and third. Rounding out the top five was Ayden Erickson and Connor Carey.
N&S Towing Heat Races were up next on the cards and it was Schmuhl who picked up the first win, with Adam Zellmer and Jeff Schmidt second and third.
Heat two was all Weber’s as he took the win. Ryan Sullivan brought home second with Chris Sleep third.
Heat three went to a speedy Eric Blumer, who was still rolling from his win a night prior. Olson came home second in the heat with Lilly Fassbender a close behind third.
The final heat of the night was picked up by Dallas Ross. Rob Maule brought home a podium spot in second with Wrickson rounding out the podium in third.
Four cars made it into the A-Main through the Fastline Design and Graphics B-Main. Carson Grob went home victorious while Dan Mech, Oliver O’Brion, and Mark Wellman all transferred as well.
A twelve-car redraw resulted in Zellmer and Schmidt starting in the front row. The green flag flew and Zellmer led early, but quickly came under pressure from Olson, who on lap three, broke by for the lead. Caution flew for the only time as a spun car in turn two brought out the yellow. Olson led the field back to racing and brought Blumer with him and by lap seven, the #6 moved into second. Blumer began chasing down the leader while back behind, Schmuhl began wheeling and dealing his #59S up the field. By lap thirteen, Schmuhl had broken into the top three but was unable to close on the front pack. Behind them, a war was going between Weber, Zellmer, Ross and Schmidt, who all swapped spots for the final top five positions.
Ty Olson drove off into the night and picked up his first ever Midwest Legends Dirt Series win. Blumer came home second wrapping up a strong weekend with Schmuhl bringing home a solid third to help him draw in the race for the championship. Weber and Zellmer rounded out the top five.
With the win, Olson picked up awards from Rush Race Gear and Aero Race Wheels. The Hard Charger, Schmuhl, took home prizes from Professional Plating and Rush Race Gear. A finish of thirteenth meant Dave Eberle picked up a prize from HMS Motorsports.
The Midwest Legends Dirt Series wraps up its points season on September 19th and 20th at Beaver Dam Raceway. Two complete events will round out the second MLDS season and wave goodbye to the track that started many careers in the past. You won’t want to miss the action.
