New Season Underway
Our new season is underway, and despite some early disappointments, the outlook is still strong for the Zumwalt Motorsports 21z and driver Jeremy Zumwalt. With the record levels of rainfall throughout the midwest, our season was pushed back to a mid-May start, and we decided to enter two early POWRi events to get the rust off and work on setting up the new car. At Belle-Clair Speedway on May 13th, contact on the second lap of the heat race left us with an eighth place finish and a difficult climb in the B Main. In the B Feature, Jeremy charged up to sixth, but missed transferring to the main event.
Our Wayne County POWRi event was better, working through heats, a qualifier and the B Feature to make our first ever POWRi feature, but ill-timed battery and fuel injection issues finished our night early with a 19th place finish.
Doe Run Raceway finally dried out enough for events on 6/10 and 6/17, but in each case, electrical issues ended our night early.
In all, the results have not met the potential of car and driver, but each night brings new experience to the team regardless of the outcome. Our next stop this Friday should prove whether we've weathered the storm of mechanical issues, and (hopefully) set the pace for the rest of the year.
