Hodges Motorsports Update - USA Raceway

Night 1 of the 44th Annual Kronik Energy Drinks Western World Championships is wrapped up at the USA Raceway here in Tucson, AZ. We run with wings last night, and got started by pulling the 26 pill to start 3rd in the 4th heat. The track was tacky and fast for the heats with a small slick, black streak on exit of turn 2. I got hung up on the inside row of the start, but was able to get to 3rd and start running down 2nd. My car was getting tight all the way around, and I was able to get within a few car lengths of 2nd but just not enough to get by. Despite no passing points, that still gave us a 13th place starting position for the feature. The track now got some slick spots through the middle but had a good bottom and top groove. After avoidig some early cautions, the green flag flew for a long strech to the finish in which I held my ground, but was not very strong. Although we didn't change much from previous nights at this track, this is a different car than we normally run and it has a different niche, so we will work to figure it out for Saturday. Tonight we're taking the tops off running with the ASCS Canyon region. I would like to give a big thanks to Brad Benic and the Huishes for helping us out last night, and we look forward to tonights racing.
