Sandia Motor Speedway - All good for Jackson!
We are at our home track Sandia Motor Speedway this weekend, which means double duty for me. The Bandoleros didn’t race Friday night which gave me more time to focus on my Legend, which was a good thing, since we had made some changes the week before when we attempted to race at Colorado National Speedway and the set up wasn’t quite right. The car was really loose and I wasn’t able to get out of the middle of the pack. I finished 7th out of 14 cars for the night.
Saturday night was a different story. I swept the Bandolero event for the heat and the main event, but not without some major pressure from my friend Shane Skaggs in car #17 who got briefly held up by Joseph Redmond in car #32 but came after me with everything he had and closed the gap.
In the Legends I started on the pole for the 2nd Heat, and ended up finishing 2nd to the 03 of Isaac Sherman who got me in the corner with only a couple of laps to go before the checkered. The Main event started with me in the 10th position and I was able to work myself up to a 6th place finish for the night. With the exception of the #12 of Justin Irwin who won the race, the remaining cars stayed close and swapped positions several times making it fun and exciting for not just the racers but for the crowd as well.
