Nienhiser Battles For 15th Place Finish Finish with World of Outlaws

PETERSEN MEDIA: Two weeks removed from his first racing of the season in Scott Bonar’s No. 50 entry, Paul Nienhiser rolled out his own PNR N. 9x on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway where he picked up an 15th place finish with the World of Outlaws.

“It was our first night of the year in the No. 9x and we had some not so surprising early season issues hinder us early in the night, but they didn’t hinder the speed our car had which was so awesome to have this early in the year,” Paul Nienhiser said.

“Timing in 18th fastest with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’, Paul Nienhiser fought some fuel pick up issues that he and his team went to work on before heat race action.

With a decent lap under their belts, Nienhiser lined the CAM2 Lubricants/Midland Performance Inc./MB Heating and Cooling backed No. 9x up in the third row of his heat race, needing to finish inside the Top-5 to transfer directly into the feature event.

Feeling very sporty in his heat race, the Chapin, IL driver was able to make speed using the top and bottom grooves on the track but came up just short of a transfer as he finished sixth and was slotted to run the ‘B’.

A bit disappointed to not transfer into the feature, Nienhiser still had that same heat race speed in the ‘B’, as he put on a show in front of the hometown fans. Finishing second in the semi, Nienhiser was locked into the ‘B’, though he knew his work was cut out for himself as he took the green flag from the 22nd starting position.

When the feature roared to life, Nienhiser picked his battles early in the race mindfully with a tough 40-laps on the Illinois bullring awaiting.

Racing his way forward, Nienhiser came to life just past the halfway point as he raced into the Top-10 and found himself up in ninth. Continuing to look for more, Nienhiser missed his mark in one corner and got his mount way out of shape but was able to save it from disaster. Though he lost all of that valuable track position in doing so, he was able to salvage his night as he worked his way back to 15th when the checkered flag flew.

“Despite the end result, I am really pleased with how we came out of the gate in our first night out in this car,” Paul Nienhser added. “I think it shows we are capable of doing some great things and I am super excited for the yea ahead. This Outlaw race in Jacksonville is always special to me, and I really want to thank my wife Raegan, and Ciara Willhite for their efforts in getting my new merchandise ready for the pre race party and the race, and then selling the heck out of it all weekend long. I also want to thank the great people at Bayer Agriculture for helping me out with some really cool giveaway items at the Buffalo Wild Wings pre race party. I am fortunately to be surrounded by some incredible people and some amazing fans.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Lubricants, Midland Performance Inc., MB Heating & Cooling Inc., Buffalo Wild Wings, T&K Tree Services, Morrow Brothers Ford Inc., American Rental Center, Signature Signs, The Auringer Family, Matt Bradshaw, Wessler Bros. Agency Inc., Haverfield Construction-Concrete, Dropped Mobile, Mason Sound, AB&C Moving, Maverick Corn Herbicide, Maxim Racing, Engler Machine and Tool, Rider Racing Engines, Simpson Race Products, and Super Shox for their support.

Nienhiser would also like to thank Heartland Trailer Manufacturing, Rockstar Wraps, Kinney Racing Engines, and Stronghurst Collision Center for their support of Scott Bonar’s No. 50 car.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-3, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
