Monahan concludes World Series in victory lane
Monahan Prepping for zMAX CARS Tour in 2025
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (02/18/25) – Brody Monahan scored his first win in a Bryson Lopez Racing Pro Late Model on Thursday to wrap up his week in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
His victory at the half-mile track in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, capped six races where he never finished outside the top 10.
“This means a lot to get a win here at New Smyrna Speedway,” Monahan said. “This event is something you grow up watching on FloRacing and wishing you were in it. It’s just a dream come true to be in victory lane. I have to thank the entire Bryson Lopez Racing team, this car was on rails tonight. We were struggling with a tight race car all week but we got things turned around.”
Monahan qualified fourth for Thursday's 35-lap Pro Late Model feature in his No. 47 Whelen Engineering Chevrolet SS. With a seven-car invert, he rolled off from the third spot. He grabbed the lead on the fourth lap and showed the way for the rest of the race, taking the checkered flag 3.383 seconds ahead of Hunter Wright. Third place went to Jimmy Renfrew Jr., with Isaac Kitzmiller and Jade Avedisian rounding out the top five.
The night before, Monahan started fourth and finished eighth in the Hart to Heart 100 despite spinning off turn two just before halfway.
Monahan's showing on the final two nights of the World Series, plus four consecutive top-10 finishes to start the event the previous Friday through Monday, put him third in the final Pro Late Model standings.
On Wednesday, Monahan’s teammate Brandon Lopez was plagued with fuel pickup issues in his No. 6 Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction Chevrolet SS. He qualified 17th, but the team was unable to start the 100-lap main event and did not compete in Thursday’s finale.
