Lopez and Whalen post top-10 finishes at Georgia Spring Nationals
Bryson Lopez Racing (BLR) Pro Late Model drivers Brandon Lopez and Carter Whalen each turned in strong results in Saturday’s $6,000-to-win Georgia Spring Nationals, with Lopez coming home sixth and Whalen finishing ninth at Cordele Motor Speedway in the Peach State.
Lopez qualified his No.6 Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction Chevrolet SS third out of 19 Pro Late Models to take time on the 4/10-mile oval. He started the 100-lap feature from the fourth spot after the invert and ran in the top 10 until just past halfway when he was involved in several spins. He regrouped and fought from the back to record the sixth-place result.
Whalen meanwhile qualified 17th in his No. 23 Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction Chevrolet SS. However, he mounted a charge throughout the race and entered the top 10 with 12 circuits remaining. He picked up one more position in the closing laps to come home ninth.
