17 Year Old Olathe, Kansas Driver makes first Chili Bowl Appearance
High School Senior Tyler Nelson of Olathe, KS made his first appearance in the Chili Bowl Nationals, held each year in Tulsa OK. The week long even features the best Midget Car Drivers in the World.
Tyler's Rookie debut was impressive. According to Tyler, "This is an incredible event and valuable experience racing against the best Midget Drivers, including veteran Nascar and Indy Drivers."
An unfortunate accident in the heat races left him staged in the J-Feature for the day long Saturday Finale. A pole position start and a 3rd place finish propelled him into the I-Feature. Tyler started in the 15th position and finished 7th, 3 cars short of moving up.
During the week long event, Tyler was honored by receiving the 2nd place finish in the 2014 All Star Midget Series.
Tyler's home track is Grain Valley, MO. He is an official spokesperson for the Boys & Girls Clubs and mentors at risk youth. He hopes to make a career of racing.
