The 2016 Annual Tyler Nelson Racing Scholarship recipients were announced at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City Graduation Celebration and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The event was held May 3, 2016 at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, MO.
Congratulations to Delton Cooper who plans to attend Rockhurst University in the Fall and John Sheecutt, Bishop Miege HS.
The Scholarship was established several years ago by Tyler Nelson, 19 year old Midget Race Car driver from Olathe, KS. Tyler is a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs and has been named "Official Spokesperson" and "Goodwill Ambassador" for the Clubs. One of only about 100 official Ambassadors nationwide.
Tyler continues to work with the clubs, mentoring at-risk youth sharing his story of overcoming adversity and working hard to reach your goals and dreams. He proudly displays the logo for the Kansas City Clubs on his car, fire suit and trailer. He speaks with youth at races and always encourages fans in "Winner's Circle" Interviews to support their local clubs.
Tyler is beginning his 10th year in racing, is a past Track Champion at his home track of Grain Valley, MO and Runner up in the All-Star Midgets Series 2 years running. This is his first year racing on the USAC Midget Series.
