Musarra Wants More on Season Four!
Time flies when you’re having fun.
Just ask ‘Rocket’ Rod Musarra, who this season will embark on his fourth year of racing Late Models (we won’t talk about how many years he spent in other divisions previously!!)
Musarra has had an up and down time over the previous seasons, but it all came together earlier in 2024 when he scored his maiden win, in the Late Model Nationals event.
“That win was amazing” smiles Rod. “Late last season we put a new engine in so it’s already dialed in for the new season ahead and now we have shifted our focus to doing the whole season once again.”
The team has been working hard over the off season, going over the whole car, all the nuts and bolts, new helms joints and everything in between, not to mention re-panelling & sticker of the car with some new sponsors on board.
“Our major sponsor Cranecorp Australia-Goldfields Crane Hire ended this year after over 20 odd years of support,” says Rod. “That left a big hole in our team but we were lucky enough to keep our other sponsors and pick up a couple more to keep us in the game.”
At this stage, Rocket is hoping for another top ten in the overall standings, but would absolutely love a top five. A couple more podiums here and there would be nice too he reports, and despite his strong win at the Motorplex, he feels there is still more to come.
“We would like to be more competitive around the Motorplex but we seem to struggle on the slick there for some reason,” he says. “So, we’ve been doing our homework!”
