Late Model Racing Western Australia
Ryan a Rookie!
Despite running in different divisions of speedway for many years, Ryan Huxtable this year will take on new challenges, running as a rookie in the 2024/25 Pro Dirt Series.
Last season was a big one for ‘Huxy’, running every round of the Super Sedan Series (the only one to do so) and finishing second in their overall season, as well as claiming the Best Presented trophy, the Dedication Award and what Ryan classifies as his biggest achievement to date in speedway, being voted the Drivers Driver by his competitors.
Now, Huxy has made the call to step up to the big leagues in WA and run with the Late Models, running the famous #25 (coincidentally how many days until the Pro Dirt Series opener!!)
“We have moved to Late Models so we can race at the Perth Motorplex more” says Ryan. “It’s also ideal because we are now able to go back to Kalgoorlie and race more at our old home track!”
The team acquired a car in the off season, having to change trailers as the new addition would not fit in the old one. Since then, the team has been busy going over the car from front to back, replacing the deck and body, putting their little old super engine into the car while sending the main engine off to be checked and freshened, along with putting some spares together.
Ryan and the team plan to compete in as many Pro Dirt Series rounds as practical.
“We will do as much as we can while I try to get my head around the set up and how to drive the new car” says Huxy. “I’m aiming to just stay out of trouble, drive clean and drive the car into the trailer after every night while building some new friendships along the way.”
Although he enjoyed his time in Super Sedans, where he made some great friendships, Ryan is pumped for the new season and would like to thank those behind the scenes that support him including his great sponsors Genwest, LHS Rocktools Australia, PKF, PR Power, MAP Group, Statewest Group, LED TEC and of course the huge support of his family.
25 days to go!
