Dupo, IL (May 8, 2018) Everybody in sprint car racing knows that Pennsylvania is sprint car country and it is a tough place for outsiders to invade. Last weekend was no exception. With minimal experience out East, the young guys, Skylar and Robbie were making their first trips to PA. Friday night, the ASCS National Tour raced at the historic Williams Grove Speedway and then headed to Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night.
Recap by driver:
#1 – Travis Rilat – Tough pill draws each night put Travis starting last in his heat races both Friday and Saturday night. On Friday, Travis was able to move from ninth to seventh in his heat race, 10th to seventh in a qualifier, second to second in the B-main, and finished the night with a 20th to 14th place run in the A-main. On Saturday, he again started last in his heat race and wasn’t able to pass any cars, thereby missing the qualifier events. He started 10th in the B-main and was only able to move up to a seventh-place finish, ending his PA weekend.
#21 – Robbie Price – Making his Central Pennsylvania debut, Robbie also battled a tough pill draw on Friday night. Starting seventh in his heat race, Robbie fell back one position to an eighth-place finish. This put him in the back of a B-main and unfortunately was only able to garner an 11th place finish, missing the A-main. On Saturday night, Robbie was able to start much closer to the front early in the night. In heat race action, Robbie started on the pole and finished second, putting him near the front of a qualifier. In that race, Robbie finished third, giving him a ninth-place starting position in the A-main. In the A-main, Robbie struggled a bit finding a line to run and fell back in the field. As the race went on, he got more comfortable with the track and was able to end the weekend with a 17th place finish.
#99 – Skylar Gee – On Friday night, Skylar started with a fourth-place finish in his heat race followed by a ninth-place run in a qualifier. Based on points, Skylar lined up fifth in the first B-main and was able to move forward to a second-place finish and a transfer to the 25-lap A-main. In the A-feature, Skyler started 19th and improved to a 17th place finish. In Saturday night’s action, Skylar began the night with a sixth to fifth-place run in his heat race, followed by an eighth to seventh-place finish in the qualifier. This put Skylar lining up third in one of two B-mains. Unfortunately he fell back to a fifth-place finish and missed the transfer to the A-main. Using a points provisional, Skylar started the A in 23rd and moved forward one spot to a 22nd place finish.
Current ASCS stats – Skylar leads the way for BDS Motorsports and currently sits 9th in driver standings, followed by Robbie in 11th and Travis in 12th. Travis and Skylar both have one top-five finish each.
Up next for the BDS Motorsports team is a three-race series in the Midwest with the ASCS National Tour. On Wednesday, May 9th, the team will head to Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas, followed by Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, and then will end the weekend at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas on Saturday. It’s another busy weekend for the BDS team and each driver will be looking to improve on their Eastern swing results.
