BRANDON, S.D. – “Maybe I just can’t cut it since I got hurt.” Those were the words of Trey Thesenvitz just one week ago, reflecting on the concussion he sustained during a flip at the Micro Sprint Outlaw Nationals at Tulsa’s Port City Raceway last October. Though only running two races since then, both DNFs, it had been just under eight months since that accident. Pushing the adversity aside, Thesenvitz led every lap of competition on Sunday night during the World of Outlaws event at Huset’s Speedway, taking the win and assuring everyone in attendance that he was back.

15 machines signed in to compete in the micro sprint supporting class. From his pole position in the third and final heat race, Thesenvitz quickly assumed the lead on lap one and drove away to win by over 2.5 seconds. The finish set him up for the main event from outside front row.

The feature, scheduled for 12 laps, went off without a hitch, taking less than three minutes to complete at the famed South Dakota third-mile oval. Getting down the front straightaway and into turn one first, it was the last time the Jasper, Minn. racer would see his challengers. Catching the tail end of the field late in the race slowed Thesenvitz slightly, but it proved to be no issue. He calmly navigated through and captured the checkered with a 1.336-second advantage. “It’s about time we finish a race this year,” he said in the winner’s circle. “You can only keep this team down for so long.

Thesenvitz would like to thank MerchLane, Speed Shack Performance, Twisted Signs and Designs, and Infinity Shocks, as well as his family, his crew chief Scuba Steve, and all of his great fans for their continued support. The No. 53 team is currently seeking primary sponsorship. Any inquiries regarding sponsorship can be directed to Trey Thesenvitz Racing or Redbeard Promotions.

Thesenvitz is next scheduled to compete on June 25 at Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, Minn., and on June 28 at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D. in the No. 53 600cc micro sprint entry.
