34 cars checked into the Stuart International Speedway in Stuart, Iowa on Sunday night as the Malvern Bank 360 Sprint Cars did battle against the Morfeld Soler Sprint Invaders for the first time.
Cody Wehrle was the Deathridge Opticians Quick Time in Hot laps. Colton Fischer of Mediapolis, IA won Heat 1 over Chris Martin of Ankeny, IA. Heat 2 went to Tanner Gebhardt of Burlington, IA over Tasker Phillips of Pleasantville, IA. Kade Higday of Knoxville, IA won Heat 3 over Jack Blackhurst of Hanna City, IL. The 4th and Final Heat was won by Chase Porter of St. Joseph, MO over Paul Neinhiser of Chapin, IL.
In the Dash that set up the top 3 rows for the $2,200 to win feature; It was Tasker Phillips who out dueled Chase Porter. That gave Phillips the opportunity to start in the 6th position to claim the Electrical Systems Inc. bonus. Tasker elected to keep his front row starting spot which gave Tanner Gebhardt the chance to claim the additional prize money. In B Feature 1 Brandon Anderson of Glenpool, OK was able to take control. Riley Goodno of Knoxville, IA was also able to transfer. In B Feature 2, Dominic White of Plainview, NE was able to grab the win and was joined by Chase Brown of Yutan, NE as the final 2 starters of the feature.
20 drivers from 6 different states took the green flag in the 25 lap A Feature in front of a fantastic crowd. Chase Brown took charge early leading the first 8 laps but with 17 to go Tasker Phillips mounted a charge on the top side to steal the lead at the line. Phillips was able to maneuver through lap cars for the next 4 laps but with 13 to go, Gaige Weldon spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. On the ensuing restart Chase Poter attempted a slide job in turn 4 that forced Phillips off the cushion giving Porter the lead. The next couple of laps were chaos as 7-8 cars battled 2 and 3 wide from 6th on back including Terry McCarl of Altoona, IA who was able to get the bottom to work on a top dominate race track. Another caution came out with 7 laps remaining when Concordia, MO’s Garrett Benson went up and over in turn 3 along with Cam Martin of Ankeny, IA. Both drivers were ok but the incident ended their race along with Tyler Lee of Cedar Rapids, IA who was also involved. On the next restart, the MyRacePass Starting Zone played a factor as Tasker Phillips again made a charge for the lead on Chase Porter as Phillips delivered slide job after slide job for 4 straight laps; but Porter answered with crossovers of his own to keep the lead until Phillips tagged the front stretch wall with 2 to go and broke ending his night. That set up a green white checkered finish between Porter and McCarl. McCarl was able to stay within striking distance but Porter made the race winning move to block TMac on the bottom in the final circuit to secure is first ever Malvern Bank 360 win. The win for Porter, who finished 2nd in the Malvern Bank Points Standings last year, gives him the points lead going into the series next race at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte, NE on Saturday April 26th.
