ARCA Truck Series: Jeff Myers Jr. Claims His First Rocco Kirsch Pole At Angola!
(Angola, IN) July 25th, 2015 – Lambertville, Michigan’s Jeff Myers Jr. won the first ARCA Truck Series pole of his career at Angola Motorsport Speedway in Angola, Indiana with a track record speed of 15.080, just barely breaking Danny Jackson’s 2012 mark of 15.084 seconds.
“To be honest with you, I didn’t think the lap would hold up,” said the two time race winner this season. “But a track record? I’ll take it!”
Another two time winner in 2015, Shawn Szep, was second quick with a time of 15.101 seconds. Szep had raced here previously in 2012, placing fifth on the lead lap while this will be Myers first time taking a green flag at the northeastern Indiana facility.
Rounding out the rest of the field in Rocco Kirsch Pole Qualifying was Cody Quarrick, Brandon Huff, Levi Mansfield, Brad Yunker, Billy Strehle, Brian Brewer, Katlynn Leer, Jess Drook and Mike Buckley. Myers rolled a five and four for a nine invert which will put Leer on the inside of the front row with Brewer alongside.
Leading practice was three time 2015 Rocco Kirsch Pole winner Huff with a time of 15.295 seconds, followed closely by Quarrick, Myers, Szep, Leer, Mansfield, Yunker, Strehle, Brewer, Drook and Buckley. Brewer spun in turn two on one of his laps but quickly got going again and Myers Chevy lost a front spindle but his crew replaced it before qualifying.
In the two heat races, Yunker took this first followed by Leer, Buckley, Strehle, early leader Drook and Brewer. The second heat was taken by Huff, with Quarrick second, Myers third, Szep fourth and early leader Mansfield (making his first 2015 ARCA Truck Series appearance) in fifth.
The Double B Garage 100 lapper will take the green flag at approximately 9 P.M.!
