Overton scores runner-up finish in Dirt Late Model Dream preliminary
Three-time Dirt Late Model Dream champion Brandon Overton returned to Eldora Speedway this past weekend, aiming to capture a fourth win in the prestigious event behind the wheel of the Riggs Motorsports Longhorn Factory Team No. 76 Late Model.
Kicking off the weekend with Wednesday’s FloRacing Night in America miniseries event—a key tune-up ahead of the main show—Overton secured a heat race victory to advance to the feature. However, his night was cut short when he retired on lap 17 of the 50-lap A-Main.
Returning to the half-mile oval on Friday for his Dream preliminary night, Overton posted the fourth-fastest qualifying time in his group and went on to finish second in his heat. In the $30,000-to-win feature, he delivered a solid performance, driving to a runner-up finish behind race winner Jonathan Davenport. Ricky Thornton Jr. rounded out the podium in third.
Overton wrapped up the weekend with a 14th-place finish in Saturday’s $100,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream finale. After missing a transfer spot, he used a provisional to start the 100-lap main event.
