HAPPY, Tex. (06/24/25) – Rodney Sanders notched his 126th career Summit USMTS Modified win on Wednesday evening in his first appearance at Nebraska's Off Road Speedway.
The Happy, Texas native pushed his 2025 win total to eight after collecting a pair of USRA Limited Modified victories at Route 66 Motor Speedway on Friday and Saturday in the Chance McDaniel-owned No. 02.
“It just feels good to get a win,” Sanders said in USMTS victory lane on Wednesday night. “We were decent last night, but we caught a few things today that we were missing and it felt pretty good tonight. First time being here, this is definitely a cool place and I hope we can make it back.”
Sanders tackled the inaugural Nebraska Nationals at Off Road Speedway on Wednesday, where he qualified sixth-fastest in his No. 20 car, then finished second in his heat race. He began the 35-lap, $3,000-to-win feature from the third position and grabbed the lead from Gary Christain on lap eight. He led all the remaining circuits and took the checkered flag 3.306 seconds ahead of Christian. Joe Chisholm, Tanner Mullens and Tyler Davis completed the top five.
The night before, Sanders’ week of racing began with the 14th annual Summersota Nationals at Casino Speedway in Watertown, South Dakota. He competed among 29 USMTS Modified entries at the quarter-mile track. Sanders took second in his heat and drove from his fifth-place starting position to finish third in the 35-lap, $3,000-to-win main event. He rounded out the podium finishers behind Tanner Mullens and Reece Solander. Fourth and fifth place went to Travis Saurer and Jim Chisholm, respectively.
After his Off-Road Speedway win, Sanders again got behind the wheel in USMTS competition on Friday and Saturday at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas. The 12th annual Amarillo Ambush – which features topless Modifieds – drew 46 USMTS competitors for a pair of $5,000-to-win shows.
On Friday, Sanders took third in his heat on the 3/8-mile oval and drove from 12th to seventh in the 35-lap feature.
The next night, he won his heat race and started on the pole in the 40-lap A-Main. He led the first 14 laps and ultimately finished as runner-up, 1.545 seconds behind winner Kyle Strickler. Solander, Mullens and Stormy Scott rounded out the top five.
Thanks to his strong week, Sanders maintains the top spot in the USMTS National Championship standings.
Sanders also competed in the USRA Limited Modified division on both nights at Route 66 Motor Speedway aboard Chance McDaniel's No. 02 machine. He bested a 24-car field on Friday, and also scored the victory on Saturday among 27 competitors.
