Badger Midgets this Sunday at Angell Park Speedway
By Bryan Gapinski (Sun Prairie, WI) -- Racing resumes Sunday Night July 2 for the first of three consecutive Sunday Night events at Angell Park Speedway.
Highlighting the event will be The Mid-State Equipment /Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie Badger Midget Racing Series, Badger 600 Micro Series presented by Race Pass, Wisconsin Dirt Racing Legends Series, along with the second and final appearance of the Dirt Kings Late Model Series.
Scott Hatton holds a 30-point lead over Robbie Ray heading into the event. Hatton will attempt to win his third consecutive midget feature at the track, for the second time in his career. Hatton won three straight between August 14-27, 2005.
The event will be the first of three at the track this season for the 600 Micro Series. Two-time series champion Chad Bogar with three feature wins this season leads defending series champion Tory Strauss by 72-points.
In honor of upcoming Independence Day the Badger Fan Club will be judging the most patriotic fan at the event wearing red white and blue etc., with prizes awarded. Fans should register for the contest at the Badger Souvenir trailer, where the Badger Drivers meet and greet will happen from 4:30-5:00 pm.
The Advance Fastening Supply Fan of the Week will also be announced at the event.
ROBERT 'BOB' WILSON 1939-2017
Robert "Bob," Wilson age 78, passed away on April 20th. Wilson served as President of the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association for four years 1973-1976. We was also a race official with the series, and involved with the leadership of NAMAR Midget Series. Wilson raced modified stock cars, before racing midgets for few seasons.
US Air Force, Wilson eventually became located at at Truax Field in Madison, WI.
Wilson was born on January 14, 1939, in South Bound Brook, NJ. While serving in the US Air Force, Wilson eventually became located at at Truax Field in Madison, WI. He worked for various manufacturing companies, and later served as COO and Executive Director of Occupational & Family Health Services, a subsidiary of DePaul Health Corporation. He ended his professional career as a licensed private detective in Wisconsin from 1990-2002.
He is survived by wife Berry Lynn (Hakes), a sister, two sons, stepson, stepdaughter, multiple grandchildren from previous marriages, nieces, and nephews.
A "Celebration of Bob Wilson's Life" tribute will be held on Sat., July 1, 2017 from 6-8pm at Radisson Hotel Milwaukee NW, N88 W14750 Main Street, Menomonee Falls WI 53051. There will be a presentation, military honors,and various reflections of his life shared.
