Erb wraps up DIRTcar Summer Nationals with runner-up in standings
The fifth and final week of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals took Tyler Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team on a three-state tour, culminating with the season finale in Ohio.
Kicking off the week in Indiana, Erb posted an 11th-place finish in Tuesday’s opener at Shadyhill Speedway, followed by a sixth-place run on Wednesday at Montpelier Motor Speedway.
The tour continued north to Michigan, where Erb delivered a pair of solid performances—finishing seventh at Butler Speedway on Friday before notching his best result of the week with a runner-up effort in Saturday’s $10,000-to-win A-Main at Crystal Motor Speedway.
Saturday’s stop in Ohio brought the annual Birthday Race at Oakshade Raceway. Erb advanced to the feature through his heat, but was collected in a lap-37 restart tangle that ended his night early. He was credited with a 20th-place finish.
In Sunday’s Summer Nationals finale at Wayne County Speedway, Erb challenged early leader Jason Feger for the top spot before a flat tire on lap 21 forced him to pit, relegating him to 18th in the final rundown.
Despite the late-week misfortune, Erb secured second in the final DIRTcar Summer Nationals point standings.
