Derek Groomer shows speed in Northern Allstars opener at Florence Speedway

Derek Groomer checked into Florence Speedway (Walton, Ky.) on Saturday afternoon for the $10,000-to-win Northern Allstars Late Model Series season opening Spring 50 event.

Laying down the second-quickest lap in his qualifying group, Groomer took home a heat race victory and started fourth in the 50-lap main event. Derek briefly led early in the event before a flat tire relegated him to a 14th-place outing.
