STRICKLER SUBS HIS WAY TO WIN IN NIGHT ONE OF P.J. WIGGINS WEEK
Kyle Strickler of Mooresville, North Carolina went to Ocala Speedway to watch some racing but soon found himself behind the wheel of Jeff Matthews #33 after Jeff and Ashton Winger were unable to make it for hot laps and heats.
The “Highside Hustler” quickly adapted to the surroundings and from his thirteenth starting position inherited the lead before the checkers fell.
Cole Falloway from Owensboro, Kentucky lead the charge at the drop of the green and appeared to be on his way to a win but soon Panama City, Florida’s
Todd Neiheiser and Mike Potosky from Guys Mills, Pennsylvania wanted to get in the game.
Falloway would have issues relegating him to a tenth-place finish while Neiheiser who spun midway though the A-Main and restarted in the rear commandeered himself to a third place run while Potosky ended his night with a disappointing 17th place finish.
The final laps saw Strickler taking the high side of Brad Deyoung from Wheatfield, Indiana to wrestle away the lead and finish almost 2 seconds ahead of the Deyoung #7.
“This track is really technical; it gets so slick with so much grip at the top and bottom but Bo got it freed up enough I could run the top and that made the difference.” said Kyle
“I know a bunch of my late model buddies are here watching after VSP got rained out so I might tell Jeff to sit his ass home and I’l drive it again tomorrow,” he concluded smiling
