Johnson Captures First Win on Graduation Celebration Night

Slinger, Wis., June 8—Jayden Johnson captured his first Uptown
Motorcars late model feature victory Sunday night in the 50-lap main
event at the Slinger Speedway.

Johnson started seventh and used the outside lane to work his
way forward into third while defending track champion Jon Reynolds Jr.
drove to the early lead. Johnson was then able to track down Tyler
Schley for second before challenging Reynolds for the top spot. On lap
34, Johnson was able to nudge to the inside of Reynolds exiting turn
four and complete the pass for the lead through turns one and two. In
the closing laps, Schley was able to work his way around Reynolds for
second and was able to close slightly on Johnson but the 16-year-old
was too strong as he drove under the checkered flag for his first career
late model feature victory. Tyler Schley finished second while Jon
Reynolds Jr. came home third after leading the first 33 laps. Evan
Hassler drove to a fourth-place finish while Tyler Hromadka took the
checkered flag in fifth. Billy Braun finished in the sixth position ahead of
Ryan Gutknecht and Zach Prunty in seventh and eighth respectively
while Brady Bill and Tom Berens completed the top ten finishers in
ninth and tenth.

Uptown Motor Cars late model heat race victories were recorded
by Tyler Schley and Jerry Eckhardt while Billy Braun was the fastest
qualifier after turning in a qualifying lap in 12.133 seconds.

John DeAngelis held off Dennis Prunty to win the 35-lap Raceway
Bar and Grill 602 Craters feature. Justin Poenitsch finished third ahead
of Alex Lopacinski and Al Stippich in fourth and fifth respectively. Dan
Thomson was the winner of the heat race while Dennis Prunty set a
new track record in qualifying after completing a lap in 11.584 seconds.

The Finish Line Bar and Grill Slinger bees contested the first round
of the Twin Bee Challenge with extra bonus money on the line and
Misty Benn turned back numerous challenges from Ricky Gebhard to
win the 25-lap main event. Morgan Zerwinski crossed the finish line in
third place while Todd Snow finished fourth ahead of Marty Tackes in
fifth. Chris Gottschalk was sixth followed by Dereck Krause in seventh
and Brandon Mennicke in eighth. Owen Benn finished ninth while
Brandon Tackes was tenth. Nathan Lemberger won the semi-feature
over Brandon Tackes and Mason Wilcott as they along with fourth place
finisher Chris Gottschalk transferred into the feature. Heat races were
won by Brian Stanczyk and Travis Kreuser while Garrett Konrath set fast
time with a qualifying lap of 15.022 seconds.

Michael Rose held off Rob Baaske to win the 15-lap American
Super Cup Series feature. Giovanni Sallee finished third followed by
Greg Stanley and Bobby Stanley in fourth and fifth. Rob Baaske and
Max Labak were the winners of the American Super Cup heat races
while Rob Baaske also was the fastest qualifier with a lap time of 14.872
seconds.

Carl Trapp closed out the evening by driving his Corvette to
victory in the Spectator One on One races.
