Tyler Reif, Brandon Lopez pace BLR during SpeedFest

Bryson Lopez Racing (BLR) continued its early season campaign on Friday evening with a five-car effort across two classes at Cordele (Georgia) Motor Speedway. In the SpeedFest event at the 4/10-mile oval – which was moved up a day due to impending weather – Tyler Reif posted a top-10 result in the Pro Late Model class, while Brandon Lopez steered to a top-5 finish in his Legend car.

In the 26-car Pro Late Model field, Reif, Lopez and Carter Whalen all drove Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction-backed Chevrolet SS machines. Aboard the No. 47 ride, Reif qualified with the second quickest time, just .015 seconds off the pole. Lopez meanwhile qualified sixth in his No. 6 car. After the redraw, Lopez started on the outside of the front row, while Reif rolled off fifth. Whalen qualified and started 21st in his No. 23 Chevrolet.

Lopez and Reif maintained a nose-to-tail position inside the top 10 for nearly all of the 100-lap feature. However, Reif made contact with Cale Hall with three circuits remaining and was sent to the rear. After a late-race restart, Lopez was battling for fifth on the final lap when he was caught up in a chain-reaction crash and relegated to a 12th-place result. Reif recovered to come home ninth.

Whalen picked up five spots early but cut a right-front tire on lap 17 after contact and was unable to continue. He finished 25th.

Brandon Lopez did double duty at Cordele, also competing in the Legend class aboard the No. 6 car. Zach Lopez took part in the race as well, piloting the No. 18. Brandon qualified eighth and finished fifth, while Zach advanced from 13th to take 10th in the 25-lap race.
