Vandenbergh Falls One Spot Short of Transferring in Night Two of WWS
On Wednesday night Kolby Vandenbergh returned to FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) for the second round of the Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. In a field of 45 cars, Vandenbergh held his spot for all 10-laps in his heat race to place 7th. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Kolby came up one spot short of a transfer position with a 5th place finish.
After a scheduled off night on Thursday, Vandenbergh laid down the ninth fastest time in his qualifying group on Sunday before logging a 7th place finish in his heat. Needing a 4th place finish or better in his B-Main to make the show, Kolby logged a 5th place finish.
Returning on Saturday for the two-day show, Kolby fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a 5th place finish. Sending the Top 4 into the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Vandenbergh posted a 6th place outing bringing an early end to his night.
Later Saturday night, Vandenbergh followed up the sixth fastest time in his qualifying group with a 6th place finish in his heat. Rolling off 6th in his B-Main for another shot at the main event, Kolby came two spots short with a 6th place outing.
Wrapping up the 13th annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday, Vandenbergh was able to record a time in qualifying but failed to make it out for both his heat and B-Main.
