Show-Me 100 weekend brings Vandenbergh to Wheatland; sixth-place finish at Spoon

After Mother Nature shifted Thursday’s event to Friday afternoon, Kolby Vandenbergh kicked off his Memorial Day weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday with the Cowboy Classic. Drawing 58 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Kolby posted a sixth-place finish in his heat race, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature. Late Friday evening for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Vandenbergh timed in 10th fastest in his group before placing seventh in his heat. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main, Kolby logged an eighth-place outing.

With preliminary results on Friday pinning him sixth on the starting grid for his B-Main on Saturday evening, Kolby recorded a fifth-place finish. Earning spot into the Midwest Sheet Metal Show-Me Challenge where the race winner was given the option to pocket the $2,500 payday or tag the tail for the $30,000-to-win Show-Me 100, Vandenbergh recorded a fourth-place finish.

On Sunday afternoon at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) for the MARS Racing Series sanctioned finale, Vandenbergh marched forward 11 spots in the 50-lap feature to finish sixth.
