Vandenbergh competes in Illinois Speedweek at Spoon and Lincoln
Kolby Vandenbergh was one of 56 Castrol FloRacing Night in America mini-series entries amassed at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) on Wednesday afternoon for the inaugural Illinois Speedweek. (Josh James Artwork)
Following the fifth-fastest time in his group, Kolby scored a second-place finish in his heat, which came behind Brandon Sheppard. Starting the $22,022-to-win A-Main in ninth, Vandenbergh was an early retiree on lap 32.
For another $22,022-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.), Vandenbergh edged his way into the main event with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Running into mechanical issues in the 50-lap feature, Kolby retired with 15 laps remaining.
