WAR VETERAN TO RETURN FOR 2016 SEASON AFTER SURGERY
Indianapolis, IN – John Helm is no stranger to racecars. He has been racing since 1972, when he started behind the wheel of a sprint car at the Riverside Race Track in Riverside, Missouri. Helm was one of the first competitors to race with WAR after its inception in 2012. He has been a competitor with the series ever since, finishing within the top five of the points championship all four years of WAR’s existence.
This past January, Helm underwent hip replacement surgery. The doctors estimated at least 2-4 months recovery time. “I feel good. Unfortunately, I’ll miss the first few WAR shows, but I’m excited to get back at it once I’m fully recovered,” said Helm.
The WAR Sprint Car Series team would like to extend their best wishes to John Helm and his family throughout his recovery. “We can’t wait to see the number 12 back in action later this season,” said Series Director and Owner Casey Shuman, “John is a veteran to this series, I have no doubt he will be a contender for the year-end point fund earnings this year.”
