Ashton Winger takes Illinois Dirt Shootout at Fairbury Speedway

Ashton Winger loaded up his Mathews Motorsports No. 12 machine and headed up to the Midwest for a MARS Late Model Championship Series tripleheader.

Kicking off Labor Day weekend at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway, Winger picked up a heat race win and ran second to Ryan Unzicker in the 40-lap feature.

Ashton rolled into his favorite track of the weekend on Saturday and was joined by a 35-car field for the Illinois Dirt Shootout at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway. Starting on the outside of the front-row, Winger chased down Brian Shirley and made a pass for the lead on lap 33. Ashton cruised the rest of the way and took home the $10,000 paycheck.

Finishing up the holiday weekend, Winger ran seventh in the $5,000-to-win show at Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Ill.) on Sunday evening.
