9th-place finish for Ward at Brown County Speedway
Morgan Ward competed in Tri-State Late Model Series events on Friday and Saturday and brought home one strong top-10 result.
After Thursday’s slated series stop at Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, South Dakota, was rained out, Ward first hit the track at Aberdeen, South Dakota’s Brown County Speedway the next night. She and her DFS Insurance No. 37JR ride were part of an impressive 52-car Late Model field. Ward finished second in her heat race on the 1/3-mile oval and started third in the night’s 35-lap, $2,500-to-win feature. She steered to a ninth-place result.
On Saturday, Ward returned to Dakota State Fair Speedway for a $5,000-to-win show that brought 42 Late Models to the half-mile speed plant. She raced to finishes of fifth and second in her heats, positioning her 16th on the grid to begin the 30-lap A-Main. She slipped three spots and finished 19th.
Ward is currently ninth in the Tri-State Late Model Series standings.
