Carson Ferguson
Trio of Top-5 finishes with MARS at Cedar County and 34 Raceway
Carson Ferguson and the Paylor Motorsports team spent an extended weekend in Iowa as they competed in a MARS Late Model Championship Series tripleheader at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, Iowa) and 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa).
Kicking things off on Thursday night, Ferguson set quicktime among 43 entries at the track and picked up a heat race win which put him on the second-row for the $5,000-to-win feature. Carson raced to a fourth-place finish in the 40-lapper.
Parked at 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa) for the next two days, Carson charged forward four positions in the $5,000-to-win opener to record another fourth-place finish. He trailed Bobby Pierce, Dennis Erb Jr., and Brian Shirley.
For the $10,555-to-win finale on Saturday, Carson grabbed a heat race victory and earned the pole position for the A-Main. Leading briefly at the beginning of the feature, Ferguson ran second until he made a charge to the lead in the closing laps. Carson nearly got around Bobby Pierce multiple times but came up just short and settled for second.
Ferguson also competed in the IMCA Modified division that evening and came away with a runner-up finish in the 20-lap feature behind Logan Anderson.
