Matt Cosner Tops Gary Martz Memorial at Bedford Speedway
West Virginia Racer Earns $3,000 For First Win of 2025
RIDGELEY, W.Va. (07/28/25) – Matt Cosner made his 10th start of the 2025 season count, powering to victory in Friday night’s Gary Martz Memorial at Bedford Speedway.
Cosner drove his Global Truck Outfitters / Nelson Auto Sales / R.H. Lapp Mechanical Contractors No. 66c Rocket Chassis Super Late Model, equipped with a Durham Racing Engine, to the $3,000 payday in the event honoring the late Gary Martz—a respected chassis builder and Bedford, Pennsylvania native.
Having spent much of the summer focused on his son’s burgeoning Quarter Midget racing career, Saturday’s win was a meaningful highlight of Cosner’s limited 2025 campaign.
“That felt great,” Cosner said. “We just picked up this brand-new Rocket Chassis, and boy, is it fast. This was a much-needed win for our team. We’ve been prioritizing my son’s racing career this year, so I haven’t been on the track as much, but the car felt great tonight. A big thanks to my crew and all my sponsors for continuing to support us throughout the years.”
The win came during Bedford Speedway’s 151st Annual Bedford Fair, with the Gary Martz Memorial headlining Friday night’s program. After opening the evening with a heat race win, Cosner rolled off from the eighth row in the feature and wasted no time charging through the field. He moved into second on lap eight when JT Spencer slowed, then closed in on early leader Andrew Wylie. Cosner made the decisive pass on the bottom on lap 16 and controlled the final nine circuits to claim his first victory of the season and 16th career win at the Pennsylvania oval.
Saturday’s scheduled event at Selinsgrove Speedway was washed out by rain.

Cosner will take the next few weeks off to focus on his son’s racing schedule before returning to action at Port Royal Speedway with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the two-day Rumble by the River. Action begins Friday, August 22, with a preliminary feature paying $10,000 to the winner, followed by Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win finale.
