Heskett Heads to Victory Lane at Cedar Lake

New Richmond, WI (May 24th, 2025) - A complete wildcard, a stranger, a new challenger. Baiden Heskett came into the night pretty unknown to the entire field, but proved to all that he means business, picking up the win at Cedar Lake Speedway with the Midwest Legends Dirt Series and the Rolling Thunder Dirt Legends.

A night with the second biggest car count in the season, a stout, twenty-nine car field led the way for the night in the series first ever co-sanctioned race. All INEX divisions represented, as well as five different states, with Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and North Dakota.

Ayden Erickson led the way in hot laps with a 17.271. Sean Johnson was second at a 17/334 and Heskett third with a 17.315. Adam Zellmer and Talyn Neuman finished out the top five.

Three N&S Towing Heat Races were the first racing for the legends. Heat one saw Heskett come from deep in the field to pick up the win, while Micheal Weber faught hard to stay second while Erickson finished third.

Heat Two ended with Sean Johnson on top of the table, while Lilly Fassbender and Adam Zellmer battled for the second place spot. The pair of recent high school graduates went at it with Fassbender getting the better of Zellmer.

Scott Richardson walked away with Heat Three after a helluva battle with Ryan Mech. The two went at the entire head with Mech finishing second and Chris Sleep a close third.

After a nine-car redraw, the front row for the feature was Ryan Mech and Micheal Weber. The green came out and Weber immediately jumped to the lead, with Heskett right behind him. Cautions would come out intermittently throughout the first few laps, and once the race got going, Heskett found his way around Weber for the lead. Heskett and Weber battled for the lead while a war between Zellmer, Richardson, and Johnson transpired for the third-place spot. The battle continued for the reminder of the race, with the three going at it and swapping that final podium spot. Meanwhile up front, Weber slowly dragged in Heskett, and had one last go at it for the lead through turns three and four on the final lap, getting to the inside but not being able to seal the deal.

Baiden Heskett crossed the line first to pick up the win, while Weber was second, Zellmer victorious in the battle for third, while Johnson and Richardson rounded out the top five.

Heskett got prizes from Rush Race Gear and Aero Race Wheels for the win. Neuman picked up the Professional Plating and Rush Racegear hard charger award. Erickson was awarded a gift from HMS Motorsport after his finishing position of thirteenth was drawn at the end of the night.

The MLDS is back in action just a day later as the series makes the trip back east to 141 Speedway. That race can be watched on FloRacing.
