Bruce Goes Back-to-Back!
Yesterday the Ellenbrook Speedway held the second round of the Michael Holmes Racing Winter Series, and once again it was Sydney based Bruce Mackenzie who took out the win!
Despite the threat of weather throughout the entire meeting, the club did a great job to get the whole program in, with Beau Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) winning both of the heat races and setting himself up for a pole position start in the fifteen-lap feature race.
As the main event went green Oldfield would lock into the lead, followed by Rob Wells (CTM Recruitment Racing) and Mackenzie, the trio surviving a number of restarts to stay in the same order.
Unfortunately, Oldfield would be forced infield with mechanical woes after lap five, seeing Wells inherit the lead ahead of Mackenzie and Brett Niall.
Wells would lead the next seven laps until Mackenzie, who had remained on his tail the whole distance, was able to sneak through on the inside to take the lead with only three laps remaining.
Mackenzie would race away and take the win, while on the last lap Wells would drift back, allowing Brett Nial to get past for second and Jay Bassanelli (Bassanelli Motorsport ) for third.
Ewan Dickson also got by to take fourth while Wells finish in fifth, Ryder Nedelkovski and Nic Marshall rounding out the finishers.
The next round of the Winter Series will be Sunday the 3rd of August back at Ellenbrook Speedway.
