Garrett Alberson captures first-career World of Outlaws triumph at Volusia Speedway Park

Collects $20,000 Payday for Second Victory of 2025

DUBUQUE, Iowa (01/27/25) – Garrett Alberson’s hot start to the 2025 season continued over the weekend with his first World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory in the Sunshine Nationals finale at Volusia Speedway Park aboard his Roberts Motorsports / Mesilla Valley Transportation / Low Voltage Solutions, Inc. No. 58 Longhorn Chassis Late Model.

Alberson, who was making his first feature start at the half-mile Florida oval, repelled Jonathan Davenport’s late charge after a lap-47 restart to claim his second win of the season and the $20,000 top prize.

“It’s huge for the team,” Alberson said. “This is what I’ve wanted to do my whole life. Just to be a contender in Late Model racing, it’s super cool. Big thanks to Ken and Beth Roberts, they put so much into this. It’s so cool to see it making some hay now.”

After Mother Nature spoiled Thursday’s opener, Alberson and the Roberts Motorsports team kicked off the sixth annual Sunshine Nationals on Friday evening with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.).

Alberson debuted at the track among a stacked 57-car field on site and just missed Friday's $12,000-to-win feature after finishing third in his Last Chance Showdown.

The following evening, Garrett qualified second-fastest in his group before securing a heat race victory. Starting third in the 50-lap feature, Alberson ran in second for most of the race before making a late charge for the lead with less than 10 laps remaining. He successfully passed Jimmy Owens for the top spot, then battled wheel-to-wheel with Jonathan Davenport on a late restart. Alberson ultimately pulled away, crossing the finish line first to claim the victory. Max Blair, Devin Moran, and Jimmy Owens rounded out the Top-5 finishers.

The $20,000 triumph marked Garrett’s second win of the season and his first with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

Alberson is set to return to action this week with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the Wieland Winter Nationals at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Florida. The event gets underway on Thursday with a $10,000-to-win opener, followed by a $12,000 prize on Friday, and a $15,000 payout for Saturday night’s finale.
