Hoffman podiums in Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain
Nick Hoffman picked back up with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series over the weekend for the rain-shortened Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.).
Joining 44 Late Model entries at the 3/8-mile oval, Hoffman outpaced pole-starting Dale McDowell in his heat race to secure the eight-lap victory. Starting on the front row for Friday’s $12,000-to-win preliminary, Nick rolled to a third-place finish in the 35-lapper. He joined race-winner Bobby Pierce and runner-up Jonathan Davenport on the podium.
Saturday’s Tennessee Tipoff finale fell victim to severe weather threatening the area.
Hoffman is currently 12 markers behind Bobby Pierce for the lead in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
