Winger scores runner-up outing with World of Outlaws at Raceway 7
Making a sweep through the Northeast with the tour, Ashton Winger followed the World of Outlaw Late Model Series to Raceway 7 (Conneaut, Ohio) on Thursday evening to kick off a four-day weekend.
Clocking in third-fastest in his qualifying group, Winger charged to a heat race victory and redrew the pole position for the 35-lap main event. With $12,000 up for grabs, Ashton ran runner-up to Tim McCreadie when the checkers flew.
Losing Friday's opener at Marion Center (Pa.) Raceway, Ashton turned his focus to Saturday's $30,000-to-win show where he scored a Top-10 outing in eight.
The Mathews Motorsports team closed out the weekend at the very fast Bedford (Pa.) Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Winger started 12th in the $20,000-to-win feature and made up four spots to finish eighth for the second night in a row.
Winger moved up to 11th in the series point standings.
