PIKES PEAK UPDATES- June 15 and 17

June 15

About to load onto the plane here in Knoxville headed back to Colorado for #RACEWEEK!!!!

The good folks at Under Pressure Performance in Colorado Springs got on my car quickly this past monday (thanks Scott Michael for dropping it off for me!) and with the help from Summit Racing Equipment’s ultra-fast shipping of the parts, were able to get my car repaired and to Mike Maroone Chevrolet North’s showroom yesterday! I had 4 lifters fail and cam that was a bit “boogered” up!

Remote tune was completed there, with the help from Brandon Loy at Next Level Raceworks back home. Can’t thank all of these folks enough!!

Thanks again to Mike Maroone Chevy for being my rig and car’s home since testing 2 weeks ago. They are having a “meet and greet” with my crew and I this Thursday at 6:30pm at the dealership. Hope to see some of you there!

Now we are focused on race registration and tech inspection tomorrow and then practice starts tues through friday. I’ll try to post daily to update on how things are going - there’s a lot going on this week!!!

June 17

Got through Pikes Peak International Hill ClimbTech Inspection yesterday and headed to the middle section very early this morning for practice. I love this section - love those switchbacks!

The vertical climb is challenging - the gas pedal is matted but with new Brian Tooley Racing cam and more low end torque, we get moving a bit quicker. Took 19 seconds off my previous practice session here in this section!!

Tomorrow we go to the top section - that’s going to be fun!!
