132 cars signed in to do battle for Friday Night Thunder. With the mercury climbing in the thermometer the points battles started to heat up as well. With another night in the books the stage is set for the final stretch of points nights to highlight the championship contenders.

The Seubert Calf Ranches Late Model feature saw pole sitter, Brett Swedberg, grab the opening lap lead. Paul Parker laid claim to the runner up spot while “Mighty” Mike Mullen quickly moved into the third position. Caution flew on lap 9 and bunched the field behind Swedberg. Mullen used the restart to capture second and pressured Swedberg, briefly, for the lead. Swedberg had the better car and pulled away over the second half of the race to secure the victory. Mullen padded his points lead with a runner up finish, last week’s winner, Mitch McGrath, was able to climb from 13th to finish third, Parker hung on for fourth, and Lukas Postl completed the top five.

The Professional Plating IMCA Modified A Main kicked off with Dan Roedl grabbing the lead at the drop of the green. Roedl opened up a lead on the field and looked set to grab an easy checkered flag but “The Hitman” Johnny Whitman had something else in mind. Whitman, the current point leader and defending division champ, started his march to the front by sliding inside Jayden Schmidt on lap 7 to move up to fourth. A lap later Whitman picked off Tanner Janke for third. By lap 11 Whitman snuck past Konnor Wilinski to second. Meanwhile Roedl was still setting the pace upfront and held a lead over two seconds when Whitman moved to second. That lead shrunk to two car lengths at the checkers but that was enough for Roedl to earn a visit to victory lane. Whitman added to his points lead with a second place finish, Wilinski was third, Janke fourth, and Flyin’ Brian Mullen rounded out the top five.

Tyler Wendt grabbed the early lead of the Monroe Truck Equipment\K&E Sales and Service IMCA Stock Car A main event. Wendt maintained the lead at the halfway mark with Wyatt Blashe, Dan Sell Jr., Brandon Czarapata, and Jerry Wilinski hot on his heels. The second half of the race saw the top five trade positions with every corner turned but Wendt was not to be denied and he held on to win. Sell was second, Wilinski third, Czarapata fourth, and Blashe closed out the top five.

The Trailer Express IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature event started with pole sitter, Brian Ankerson, leading the opening circuits until his racer stepped out from under him in turn two at the front of the pack. With the leader out of contention Grant Besaw found himself atop the field for the restart. Austin Zdroik took advantage of that restart to grab second away from Logan Mahoney and on lap five Zdroik worked past Besaw into the lead. As cautions continued to mar the event, last week’s feature winner, Max Oreskovich, utilized multiple restarts to move into third by the halfway mark. Lap 13 was the lucky lap for Oreskovich as he moved into the lead before a final yellow on lap 14 slowed the event once more. With the time limit reached there would be one last green, white, checkered restart. Oreskovich held on for the win, Ryan Schmidt was second, Zdroik third, Kaden Besaw fourth, and Mitchell Fairbank fifth.

The Vettings Customs Rigs and Rides Unified Dirt Street Stock A Main event saw pole sitter. Dave Hoerning, grab the lead at the drop of the green but by lap five Paul Diefenthaler had moved into the top spot. While Diefenthaler led, point leader, Trey Van Straten, worked steadily towards the front and made his presence felt as he looked to win on back to back nights. A restart with five laps remaining saw Van Straten slide into second place and he quickly pressured Diefenthaler for the top spot. Van Straten found his opening on lap 18 and snatched the lead. When the dust cleared at the checkers Van Straten was the winner, followed by Diefenthaler, Hoerning, Jason Piron, and Devin Yaeger.

The Midwest Equipment Dock and Lift Service IMCA Sport Compact feature was canceled as the cars took to the track due to a medical emergency in the pits that resulted in a lengthy red flag before time constraints forced a cancellation of the final feature event of the evening. The drivers were awarded equal pay and equal points for the night and the $500 top prize that was planned has been moved to next week’s event.

Outagamie Speedway powered by Klink Equipment & Elite Coatings is back in action next Friday night, August 1st, for the Coors Light\Kay Distributing night at the races featuring $500 to win for the IMCA Sport Compacts plus the Milwaukee Stock Car Racing Association will be on hand with the Vintage Mods .
