GLSS-Great Lakes Super Sprints
Great Lakes Super Sprints Event Scheduled at Thunderbird Raceway on June 21st Cancelled
Muskegon, MI - Officials with Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Michigan have announced the cancellation of the scheduled Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP show on Saturday, June 21st. The event was set to bring GLSS back to Thunderbird for the first time since 2021. A changing economic climate for the race track was cited as the reason for the cancellation.
When officials with Thunderbird Raceway and the Great Lakes Super Sprints spoke during the schedule-making process, there were many variables that hadn’t been known yet for the upcoming season. Great Lakes Super Sprints owner, Barry Marlow, says that while the Great Lakes Super Sprints were excited for the highly anticipated return to Thunderbird Raceway, he recognizes that tracks need to do what is best for them.
“The overall health of the track is more important than one single show,” Marlow said. “We feel it’s in everybody’s best interest to cancel the event in 2025, while looking ahead to how we can get back to Thunderbird Raceway in 2026.”
The next scheduled event for the Great Lakes Super Sprints is Friday, June 13th at Hartford Speedway and Saturday, June 14th at Butler Motor Speedway with the MacAllister CAT Division. Fans can get tickets at the gate on race day. Those who can’t make the trip can catch the action live at www.GreatLakesSprints.tv.
